Heading down south to the land of the pine today. So excited to spend a few days with my momma and for this adorable co-pilot. He usually just naps and snacks but he never complains about my DJ skills.

When the world gets too large, we make it small again. We snuggle while I whisper “It’s just you and momma right now. You are safe. You are so loved.” And slowly, the gigantic pressures that felt crushing begin to evaporate. Our breathing begins to match and he will eventually lift his head up…when he is ready…with me never far behind. I cannot fully protect you, Jefferson. I cannot protect myself or anyone I love.

We will be at the Christmas Tree Lighting tonight before we start decorating our own home. Everything feels a little brighter - a little more magical - when things are shared with sweet babes.

And all of a sudden, without my permission, you are becoming less and less like the tiny newborn I brought home over two years ago. Oh, how we have grown and changed. Together and because of one another. Whenever I think back on how I have improved, those realizations are permanently tied to you. You teach me the precious joy of a moment, that the world can feel overwhelmingly large, hugs are curative, picking my favorite curl is the truest form of meditation, and - most importantly - that our love is one of a kind.

I can’t even begin to imagine how much less our lives would shine without this amazing little person ♥️

Best way to see downtown Smithfield is just a few steps behind those wonderful curls.
